    TIMO Source Clan, FOR REAL

OK, this time, I am serious about it.

My DOD:S server has become pretty popular for a home-made server. Anyways, there's at least 30 people that come in and out of the server (that ACTUALLY PLAY) each day, there's well over 50 on the weekends, and a lot of them have asked me if I have a clan, I said no, and they said that I should make one and they would join because they like my server and my hosting skills so much

All I would need and ask for is a new section on this forum dedicated to a TIMO clan and my servers.

It would greatly increase the popularity of this forum because there would be around 10 or so new members every week, and most of them would be regulars, becuase gamers are into computers, and that's what this forum is all about.

A bunch of BF2 players including myself where considering starting a ClanIMO 2. It would be a loose clan with no real ranks or leaders. Just moderators for clan forums. How does that sound?

    Sounds good to me.

I'm addicted to Source games, and started being addicted to hosting.... hosting servers in perticular. I really don't care if we compete, all I care about is getting people who I play with to join my "clan" so that I can play with them more often and have more regulars come on to my server!

BTW, since I bring up source so often, in case some of you don't know what exactly I mean, I am talking about Counter-Strike Source and Day of Defeat Source (which is my current biggest addiction).

I'll holler at that. I've been playing more and more and am getting back into the CS:S groove. I don't have DOD:S, though, so that's moot.

If a site can be had for gratis, that's wonderful, but I'm not too keen on the idea of contributing to a monetary fund for maintaining a clan.*

*Maybe we can mooch off of TIMO here and kindly ask Rob for our own forum. After all, it would create more traffic.

I would also like a free idea, but hell, if it costs us like ~20 bucks per month, it can't be more for than that, all we have to pitch in is a few bucks each, and I am down with that

We could go with a free site, but we would need a html expert, and that is something I am definitely not, nor will I ever be.

Glad to see you're back on Source bingo

you should man, custom maps keep coming out almost every day for DODS, and each one of them is more fun than the other, just amazing stuff, and non-stop fun, tons of maps from other games (like Halo(2), HL2, probably CS, etc) are being converted to DOD:S maps, like I said, there are some really fun custom maps for DODS

Christmas is coming up and I need something to ask for. First will probably be BF2 then if I have nothing else on the list, I'll probably snatch DOD:S.

BF2 is not worth getting, it's no fun because in order to have fun you need to have no less than 10 people on a map, true fun is at 20+ people, but whenever there's that many people on, you're bound to get a 30fps slideshow no matter what, so BF2 is not fun IMO, because you need a lot of people to have fun in the game, and a lot of people requires a killer rig/connection (if it's even possible, cuz I haven't seen a single non-laggy server at 20+ people) which is extremely rare or non-existent.

I was also really excited about BF2, hell, I even pre-ordered mine, and the only thing that has been of use, for the last 3 months, out of the 54 bucks I spent on it last June has been the Logitech headset that I got with it

Hmm, and you have a much faster computer than I do...

I'm definitely not doing any upgrading, either, so I guess BF2 is going to be on the back burner until an upgrade to 64-bit will be "needed". Of course, the price will subsequently fall for BF2, which will be a nice perk of waiting.

Why would you want to play on a 10 player server in bf2 when there are plenty with 64? I have a 3200+ and 9800np and don't experience any large amounts of lag, sure there is some lag now and again but the internet isn't perfect...

I can't say how bf2 is compared to source since I haven't played source but I don't see anything wrong with bf2. I have a lot of fun with it.

You have no system lag, bean? What settings do you play on? I always like to play at 1280x960 and theoretically have all the bells and whistles turned on and up.

I don't have anything "turned up", in fact I haven't changed the settings from what it auto set it to. I think it is at 800x600 and medium quality or something.

Hmm. Then I gather it'd give my system at a good rating at my desired settings. Oh well...I could always buy it and upgrade later if I so desire.

Sure, I can setup a clan subforum in the gaming forum if desired. Just let me know.

You're cccccccoooooooooorrrrraaaaaaaaaaazzzzzzyyyy!!! They are plenty of good servers. The whole point of BF2 is to have a full-blown war. 32 on 32 is mad awesome. The maps are hugenormous compared to CS:S. You have to go on ranked servers to get the best performance. I have CS:S but I prefer BF2 over any game. You're just getting on the wrong servers. I play with Fourthbean, Nunyadam, and a bunch of other players. We have loads of fun working as a team. I like having a goals in a game. CS:S is just basically mindless slaughtering for absolutely no rewards. BF2, you get point not only for kills, but also for taking points, defending those points, destroying enemy strategic tools and weapons (artillery, etc.). You don't need a "killer rig" to play most games including BF2. The Source and Havok engines are just as demanding on a computer as BF2. Every game has low settings for those that can't afford $1,500+ systems. Good graphics are a plus but gameplay is what really counts.

Why didn't you tell me that when I asked about restarting ClanIMO?

You didn't ask. You inquired about setting up another site like ClanIMO did.
