Tabbing in PhotoPost
I've always wondered this -
What's the deal with tabbing to the Submit button in Photopost? I type my message, hit Tab and am about to press Enter when I realize I've tabbed to this unknown button in the middle of the page.
Can this be fixed? A minor gripe, yes, however, anywhere else I'd tend to link this percieved error as just that - a website that was b0rked.

It's happened to me as well in Photopost.
The exact same thing happens when sending a Private Message. I hit tab, the focus goes to the "no icon" radio button.
It's would be nice to have the site consistant if possible.
Easier for us older folks, set in our ways.

Changing tab layouts is not simple, as it requires HTML restructuring, which is not easy when dealing with a dynamic content management system. Since this is not really a coding problem, but more of a minor annoyance, it will probably not be addressed anytime soon.

Is PhotoPost poorly coded or something?
In my experience, in even the most awkward and hellish dynamic content framework, static HTML issues (like this one) are often the most simple to deal with. You change the code (or in this case, insert taborder references) and you're finished with it. In situations where things are done right, you'll often have a template document that makes things even easier. Even if there is no template document - the static HTML code will be in a PHP file somewhere.

No, PhotoPost is not "poorly coded." Furthermore, I take serious offense that you would even post such a comment, as PhotoPost is a recognized leading solution for online galleries, not to mention a huge part of the parent company that keeps TechIMO afloat.
As to my previous comment in this thread, what I am saying is that there are more important issues we need to address at TechIMO than changing the tabbing order in the gallery. Brandon, have you even worked with the CMS in question? I suspect not given your reply. :/ I am not even sure if the issue in question affects any site but TechIMO, as I have not seen any evidence or proof that it does, meaning this is likely a localized coding issue with our customized installation and not a product "defect."
I also suspect you believe we somehow have a dedicated technical support staff for TechIMO that can instantly address any problem, no matter how minor. Would you like to donate to the required salaries for such a dedicated staff? Let me know. Otherwise, I think we do a heck of a job keeping this place in decent working order, especially considering the primary site administrators (Scott and myself) both actively work on numerous projects outside of TechIMO, as the company does have bills to pay.

October 25th, 2005, 10:01 PM #6Oh, I never disputed that PhotoPost wasn't a leading solution for online galleries. Let's not get theatrical. I don't have time for that. I think PhotoPost is great. I simply questioned whether or not the coding was done properly - which, unless you coded it, I don't see where offense could be taken on your part. I would have naturally assumed that PhotoPost was coded well. But since simple changes can't be executed without "restructuring", it just made me wonder. That's all. No need to blow our tops here.

Unless the system is intensively encoded, I don't feel that I really need to know much about it's internal workings to know how complex the issue would be.

Brandon, you are now the one being theatrical. What I am getting at is I am tired of your incessant complaints about how TechIMO is administrated. Anytime a minor glitch surfaces or a slight policy change is made, I usually can count on you being the first person to complain or offer negative commentary.
Just as you have stated, you have absolutely no idea as to the inner workings of TechIMO, meaning you have little room to make comments on how we can supposedly easily address minor problems that occasionally occur around here. Just because you have experience with web development, do not believe for a second that you have a clear understanding of our various systems, especially those that have been highly customized and or even in some cases developed in-house for our specific purposes.Unless the system is intensively encoded, I don't feel that I really need to know much about it's internal workings to know how complex the issue would be.
If anyone else has something positive to add, drop me a PM. Otherwise, this discussion is over, as I have already offered a response to the original inquiry.
