    open/closed help requests

Hey guys...just an idea here. It's probably been talked about before but who knows...not I...lol. anyways, what I was thinking was to give the thread creator the option to close threads...Just because a thread is closed, doesn't mean people can't post...Use it, for example, when you have a problem...it's open...get the problem fixed, so you close it, but you want to continue a discussion about the causes of the problem...it doesn't need to keep showing up in the currently active threads box....cus it's not really important. We also know that the issue has been solved, we can still go in and read about the issue, how it was fixed, and participate in the convo later. Also, the thing I'd really like, would be to have the option to save all the threads you replied to, and then when they're closed, have them deleted. That way, when I'm helping someone out.....I have a record of all the places I've posted, and whose posted back, and if they're figured out their issue or not!! Threads can be closed after a 10 day period of inactivity by the thread creator in the thread. Anyone have any insights (granted...would probably be very difficult...just an idea to keep in mind if rob or someone ever gets bored rrriiiggghhhttttt. lol. anyways....just my .02 )

Do you use the "subscribe to this thread" option? If not its located under thread tools at the top of your post. Its a great tool for tracking threads.

I use it...but I'd love to know when problems have been solved...that way if i took a few days away from tech imo then i don't have to go back and read the whole thing just to find out it's already been solved..... plus it stops me from reading threads with only a few posts but have still already been answered

I had a similar suggestion a while back... it got some support but overall nothin came of it. Still think this is a good idea though.

The HP forums have a feature where the person who posts can rate the thread "The answer to my problem has been posted" or something like that. That way, when you search the forum, you knew which threads to look at.
