As the old adage goes, if it is not broken, then don't fix it.

Im gonna agree, even tho I just bought vB 3.5.4 today

Its only beta, I would wait till at least 3.6.1 better to wait till 3.6.2

BTW, we are running vB 3.5.x at ResellerRatings and PhotoPost. Not sure about any vB 3.6.x upgrade plans, but I would suspect PhotoPost to be the first site to deploy such an upgrade.

Perhaps, but it is not a priority project. Forum updates are typically slow at TIMO, especially if the updates mean having to modify other site coding, like the news CMS. Remember, we ran a heavily hacked and modified version of vB2 for several years, despite vB3 being available.

Heh, I know how that goes.

BTW, I noticed that you guys added ads to the first post on each page.

Scott is running some trial ad programs for awhile. We could be moving around some of the ads over the upcoming days/weeks.

Congrats. The template features of vB3 is the major selling point IMO, and in this aspect, the vB3 development team has a good lead on most of the competition.

    Until phpBB3 is finished.
(its pretty close to beta, just have some bugs to cleanup and some other small things )

You cant really compare the two together, although they are both forum boards, ones free the other one is you have to buy. Loads of work has been put into vB, so therefore it can only be purchased. Likewise with phpbb3, but I think when it was under development, the aim was probaly to design it in such a way where they could afford to publish it for free. Besides, theres no way at this stage where anyone would buy phpBB, its just no good enough yet. Or maybe they might release an advanced version which will be good enough to be bought...

About the upgrade...TIMO is porbaly primarly known for its forum (those who know it) by providing the lastest software could only benefit the site and its members. Maybe it might increase member's or visits - who knows?

BTW, another suggestion for forum boards is FuseTalk. It costs a few hundred dollar's but it looks mind-blowing ...maybe in the years to come?

But you can compare the two, because both are intended for one thing, correct?

I don't mind seeing the banner or the little google ads moving around the site, but...
Here's a vote for "I really don't like that full page ad".
