using ff2. Don't think it's malware as i haven't seen any popups anywhere else.... idk...the ads have been getting more and more obtrusive. I hate the one at the top now for adobe where u mouse over it by accident and it expands and covers the first few posts....ugh. I doubt scott/rob/the powers that be purposely added a popup but these ad companies are getting more and more daring.....

I'd run spy-bot and the usual progs just to be sure. Adblock and adblock filterset g. updater work for me.

I leave ads alone unless they don't leave me alone (animations, mouseovers, popups, SOUNDS).

If they don't, I right-click and block the server (opera). Their mistake. Every popup I get, I block the image server as well. I only get about 2 popups a week, and they're always BLANK.

I think we customers have made ourselves very clear about popups, if they want to continue to try and shove them down our throats, they can choke on it themselves.

As most everyone should already know, we do not knowingly use popup advertisments at TechIMO. That is not to say a few advertisers have not tried to sneak them by us in the past, but we take such advertising concerns quite seriously. I will drop Scott a line so he can look into the issue.

I honestly think it may be a virus or some spyware. When I had that stuff, I got popups all the time.

Agreed. Scott has more sense than to knowingly put popups on Techimo. I use a popup blocker, but if it circumvented the blocker in Firefox, it'd probably do the same for mine. And I'm popup free.

i don't really browse around too much on my laptop and haven't had any unexpected popups in probably months. There are some sites that give the popups but that's to be expected. I can't think of any at the moment, but there are some. The reason i don't think it's adware is because i haven't had another popup since. As rob said..i KNOW they'd never purposely allow popups but these damn ad companies are getting a bit ballsy so i figured i'd see what's up! who knows....maybe i do have an infection. If i get another popup i'll check that out...but like i said...i don't know of any adware that gives just 1 popup and that's it... lol

I've noticed every once in a while IE7 asking if I wanted to let timo run a windows media app, other than that no popups.

Robert I just got one too, if I get another one I'll do a screen shot for you, because it didn't come back when I went back to the page. It was also part of the add above the reply box. It was asking me to take a poll regarding the info in the add box, when I was sending a private message.

Looks like this just started today...btw I think I know a pop up from a hole in the ground,

Whoops maybe not.. I should have looked at sr71000's attachment, that's the pop up I got.

I'm using IE7 with Pop-Up blocker turned on and I've had IE prompt me a couple of times the last few days about pop-ups being blocked on TechIMO. Never had a problem before...
