| preview when mouse is moved over link to thread??
I've been on other sites where if you move your cursor over the link to a thread it displays a portion of the message so you can "preview" it and see if it is worth your time. Is this a possiblity with the software we're running here?
just wondering

Scott... I can PM you a site that does exactly what I'm looking for, but since it can contain mature content only, I can't post it here. just let me know

I agree. I think this feature would reduce the posts in a lot of threads. Some of the initial threads that are posted are not as good as the threads that follow and they would / could get lost. If my vote counts, leave this one out...

I think it might be a problem for people with slower/weaker PC's.
Also it would make the site messy IMHO.
Sorry, but I'm against that |

also take a little bit longer do download the page, seeing as when you pull up the threads page, I don't believe it has to hit the table with all of the replies.. now you're querying another table, and also sending more data across the pipe for people to download...
Sounds but in our case not necessarily practical... |

I am not an owner of a particularly fast connection, and I have no problem with it at all. In fact, I think that it would probably decrease overall bandwidth use on the site and free it up for everyone. Instead of having to reload an entire page every time you click on a link.
anyway. it's the sort of thing that I would bet could be fairly easily implemented given how the bbs software usually works (from my limited understanding)... that way, we could test it out for a bit, and see what people think!...
btw, it only displays the first 100 or so characters of the message, if you're not intrigued by the title or the fist sentence or two, chances are slimmer that you're going to post to the topic anyway!
