I thik that it would be very respectful if TIMO and Resellers would figure out how to be a part of the Amber Alert Policy...
I think that it might take only a phone call to add this great forum to help children in need.
Thanks for considering this.....

The AMBER Alert Portal is provided as a free public service. Through the AMBER Alert Portal, law enforcement may directly issue and update AMBER Alerts, which are then immediately sent to mobile phones, pagers, fax and email to anyone who signs up. http://www.amberalert.com/ | Sweet can sign up and be the Official alert us person |

I get Amber Alerts via email from my ISP, Earthlink. It's been awhile since I used it, but I believe Earthlink's toolbar will also give Amber Alert notice's. Sorry, but I haven't used that toolbar for something like three years.
The thing is I only get them if the alert covers my geographical area. It really isn't necessary for someone in Maine to get a Amber Alert from California. That would be the only real problem I see with doing that on a forum such as this. Since a Amber Alert is mostly a local event.
The CNN website does something similar with local news and weather, so it could be done. I even get the local county news on my CNN page. I believe that is done with a cookie.

Nomaxim has pointed out one of the issues involved. TechIMO has an international scope, meaning lots of members from all over the world. It would be difficult to target alerts for specific areas.
If anyone knows of an application (preferably free) or a RSS feed related to Amber Alerts available to end users, I would be glad to promote it in the news section.
