We need a larger file size for avatars!
This was designed back in the days of dial up and 1 gig hard drives!
I think the time has come to look at the limitations imposed by such a tiny file requirement!Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

I think it's fine just the way it is.

I uncur!
Then you will all have to look at a larger PL avatar. Seince you don't want to look at PL at all, that could cause some problems.
What about our few, sad members that do have Dial up (#43 Fan, him61 at 1 of his houses.) Or EVDO that never stays connected?I'm PL, I've come to suck all the intelligence out of this thread.

I thought you say Him61 have dsl now.
For that avatar they are hard to put anime picture. i have see another forum don't limit they just limit what slow network.
last time I check forum and avator was over 900 kb/sec
which is fat man who suck his stomach until hot woman walk past his then lose suck stomach cause hit table.
sorry for my bad grammar!

I have better uses of my bandwidth than to see longer animations. Plenty of people have been able to do wonders with the current limitation... Consider it a challenge to get what you want under the file size limit.
I don't like signatures.

Even a small increase would be nice.
The 64x64 and 10kb limit is very small for sure.
100x100 and 50kb is what i see a lot.

I am 100% against larger dimensions for avatars.. One of the things I hate the most are when forums have avatars that take up half the screen and sigs that are longer than the posts... Luckily TechIMO has avoided these so far.
I don't like signatures.

Ugh 100x100 avatars are nothing short of gaudy.
I personally wish no animation was allowed and feel that 10kb is more than enough.Signatures blow hard
If your signature contains an ad of any kind, congratulations, you're on my ignore list.

Dimensions are fine where they are, but I personally think that the size limit should be raised.

Loading the pages fast > than loading bigger avatars..

Yeah, the avatars should stay the way they are. Maybe bump the size limit to 15kb, but don't mess with the dimensions.

Unless someone wants to send Scott a cheque to pay for more sever space and bandwith for TIMO I say let Scott decide.
He pays the bills, after all.
Personally I think it is fine as it is, and we have some talented people who are willing to help get some creative avatars under the size barrier.
IMO, anyway.
Cheers

The pixel dimension limit remains the same. I have bumped the data size limit to 15KB.
I have seem some impressive work done within the confines of the 10KB limit. For those that can't quite get their avatars to 10KB, a 15KB limit should allow room for a little extra padding.Robert Richmond | Infinite perceptions. One reality.

Would that amount to a price fixing cartel? Even though the prices aren't so much fixed, but MS demands at least x amount of repeat sale fee from each resale. Ford would probably like to get a cut...
