Either....both...don't really mind - could even just be a massive 'ban hammer' too...

thing is, with him, sometimes you don't know if the thread he replied to was a new one or one that had been buried for 7 years, no way of telling that until you click the link and see it, by then its too late.

If it showed he was the one that started the thread, easy enough, but when replied to in someone elses thread, thats where its hard to tell.

As mentioned by Shy, if he's done a[nother] bit of thread necrophilia, then you have no idea... I've got him on my ignore list; but if he posts on a thread, it still gets into the recent discussions box...

Other times it isn't easy to tell that it is a[nother] of his stupid/pointless threads, and I don't see that until I've clicked the link (and realise that there is a post, and expand the post) to see it was a bit of my life that he's wasted............again...

It is prolly that that has meant that I now rarely check the boxes for things - as they're either full of SPAM links all morning (until a Mod in the USofA wakes up, I guess) or Reseller Ratings links, or another of his dumb arse threads... All I tend to do now is keep up with the threads that are on my subscriptions list, plus any links I get pointed to [by PM or in the F@H threads...

Ah,I see, I never use the recent discussions box and I didn't think of that. However, it seems that a few members have really let him get under their skin, and that I don't understand. But I'm sure we all have certain members that bug us, good thing that's not a reason to ban, or everyone would be gone

As I said, I tend not to use that (or the other box up there) any more..and only check the threads I've already participated in, or the ones I've been asked to look at...

Overall, looking at it with a "big picture" view, and presuming that there are others who do similar, that essentially means that there are fewer threads that are being looked at; which, in turn, means that there is less help being given to the people who are looking for it; this means that they're less likely to get a response, and eventually means that TechIMO is dropped down the rankings as fewer and fewer people get help..

I'm sure that this isn't what Scott(??) wants for this site, but that's the way things seem to be going.

Not just him, but the SPAM threads tend not to stick in your mind (as they are only listed for one day at a time..by the next day they've been kicked/deleted; only to join again under a new nick) and others are Reseller Ratings stuff.. Dude111 just stands out as [to my knowledge] he has yet to add anything of value to the site, all he ever seems to do is thread necrophilia and start pointless threads..

Maybe if there was a Mod who was on when I'm online in the mornings, then I might start paying attention to those boxes, but again I'd prolly still prefer to have an addition thing where posts (and threads) from those on your ignore list are actually ignored...

What you consider 'good stuff' doesn't seem to match what several other members think are....

Perhaps Rich is ignoring you...like I would have done if I'd realised it was you that had updated this thread....

The suggestions are welcome but you didn't need to PM them to me. As you can see from my post I personally don't see it as being that BIG an issue. Its annoying but of all the other things we have to worry about around here its not likely going to be big on the to-do list.
