I'd rather see a list with brief descriptions next to the corresponding links. Even with threads, you'd have to search within the thread. Perhaps it could be done like the reviews page: based on hardware component/software category. | |

what we need is to hot link some of the threads i.e "what os is better for" so people do not keep posting the same damn things all the time

I would say have a "Web Sites that HELP!" listing in the user reviews.
That way, anyone can post One link, with a description, and others can critique it.
If we post it in the regular community forum, then it will get burried, and then rise again, and fall, the cycle never ends (kinda like hamsters, shut up knothead  )
