Age of Conan

Well guys, Age of Conan is about to be out, the 17th is the pre order date and in game date is at 20th,

I got 3 gig ram
7900 GS 256 mb , grafix card,
core 2 6400

I know it is over the recomended, but will it give me a good game experience?
check www.youtube.com for info about the game, the grafix is better than oblivion and its online game like wow, much better combat system, nudity and very very bloody... age limit is set at 17 in the states and 18 to 20 in europe.
check it out and chop some heads off... yes you can chop off peoples heads and more in the game

your only real problem is with the vRAM. I've got the impression that for nice graphics (and I don't mean the best) you need 512MB. Your 3 gigs of ram will do you just fine as will your chip.

I'm looking for one now. Do you need AGP or PCI-e? I assume you are on a new motherboard since you have a C2D chip.

edit:Well I have been looking at some DX9 solutions but they were surprisingly expensive, at least for the 512MB versions. I don't know what your budget is but I believe the best bang for your buck atm is the 9600GT. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130334
It should work well even without Vista, though that may be an upgrade you might want in the future.

I myself have an 8800GTS 320MB but I really wish I had gone for the 640MB now. And both are no longer cost-effective. the G92 cards outperform them very well. I will be playing AoC with this and expect (read: hope) to be able to see fair graphics.

8800 GT is around 200 bucks depending on the manufacturer and stuff ... Still an awesome bang for the buck but i dont think its AGP friendly.

PS: I cant wait to see how the game launches. I'm not much of an early adopter, so unless i can finish GTA 4 ... I gotta wait.

I could handle around 200 bucks, I am using PCI-Express myself, one of those very small isaly dark brown slots, so witch card would be the best investment, 8800 or 9600? price seam to differ but not that much.
and i assue my 7900 is classed as ond now heh i had in my old mind that it was fairly new, I am indeed running XP and can not use Dx 10 cause of it,
Vista... sure for the grafix maybe, but my experience around vista has not been great,

plus vista is around 4 to 500 bucks anyhow i beleve

Actually if you go to Newegg you can get OEM Vista Premium for $99. Also you can get a retail upgrade version for around the same price.

I would personally go with the 9600 even though the performance is near the same. But the 9600GT is just a bit cheaper I think.

the upgraded Vista is if you got XP i assume, and i also got the upgraded version form 98 , so if i needed to install it i first have to install 98 than xp than vista lol, its alright though it will save some dimes,

8800 and 9600, weird if the later model 9600 would be cheaper than the older one but not me against heh, I think ill pick me up one of those,

Well the 8800 is a great 8-series card, and the 9600 and ok 9-series, so it comes out about even. And you can do a clean install of Vista with an upgrade version I believe. You won't have to go through 3 OSs lol.

I got about roughly 300 to 400 bucks to spend on parts and so on, the more i save the better, but if i got to upgrade ill do so, grafix card i can see already is kinda a must. so i assume 9600 will be a card that will last for a while. (witch i normaly think about all the cards)
