| What if Hillary sweeps the remaining contests? She won in West Virginia in convincing fashion. She claims a broader support base than Obama (probably correctly). She wins hands down among those “bitter” small-town Americans who “cling to guns or religion”.
With five races to go, she can't catch Obama, but she can certainly pick up enough momentum going into the convention to make a strong case that she is the better candidate in a face-off with Sen. McCain.

| The republicans have made such a mess of things, that a drovers dog could beat McCain in the general election. It doesn't matter if it's Clinton or Obama, either of them can beat him. |

| Indeed, while Clinton was winning in West Virginia, the Republicans lost another "safe" Congressional seat in a special election. In Mississippi. 54-46. In a district that Bush won with 62% of the vote in 2004. |

| WV isn't a proxy for the rest of the country.
In 2004, the Democrats were fixated on "electability" and chose Kerry over Dean. As a result, Kerry spent the campaign defending himself against "you voted for the war too," and ended up NOT getting elected.
This year, why chose a candidate that voted with McCain on the war when a stark distinction can be made selecting one that was against the war from the start? As Theo suggests, the country is rejecting Republicans even in their safest districts -- which may mean it doesn't matter who the Dems select.

| If McCain wins it will be because of his running mate, not McCain himself...
