Yeah, a great wedge issue that is absolutely meaningless to most of the population. But it gives some people another reason to hate. Sad, sorry SOBs.

Sad, sorry SOBs. | Since most people are opposed to gay getting the right to marry ( And I'm one of them, I believe that marriage is a Sacrament of God ), however, those who are gay and live together should have the same rights and obligations associated with marriage. I respect their feelings and feel that their lives should be as full as those who are married. It's ashame that the courts are over-riding the will of the majority. If this isn't overturned what will they change in the future????? Our rights continue to go down the drain and if we donot send a message in November , if it has any meaning at all, we have no one to blame but ourselves. |

It is not a shame that courts sometimes override the wishes of the majority; it is a good thing that our system has checks and balances to keep the majority from running amok and trampling on the rest of society. Because given the chance, they will attempt to do exactly that as often as not. |

No matter who the majority is, they will always try to force others to conform, even in matters that have no impact on the majority.
Heterosexuals can only cheapen the institution of marriage and what it means to them, gays can't effect their unions of marriage and the meanings marriage has for male and female couples.
Most of the majority do degrade the sanctity of marriage.
They have affairs and divorce, they beat up their spouses, they treat each other like shit.
Doesn't seem very god-like or god sanctioned to me.
How much worse can a infinitesimal number of Homosexuals make it? |

Just because something is passed into law, doesn't mean the courts shouldn't determine if the legislation is legal or not. Other wise there were be majority ruled anarchy.
Today, when things are put on ballots political spin is put on the real meaning behind the legislation.
Often voters are uninformed of what the outcomes may be, there's emotional spin put on something, that after it is passed, it turns out to not be so good after all.
Look at what happened to CA with the 3 strike law, most that voted for it intended it to apply to serious offenses but one of the first problems that came up soon after it was passed, was when a guy with a couple non violent robbery's was sent back to prison for life..for stealing a pizza
That wasn't how I thought it would work when I voted for it and I'm sorry that I did.
Now the CA prison population has exploded because there are no other sentencing options.

What a joyous moment in American history. Ellen DeGeneres has announced that she will be marrying her girlfriend, Portia de Rossi in the People's Republic of California.

| Typical liberal pablum - suppose you objected to him taking your pizza and resisted - he probably would have killed you.
They guy had been to prison a few times before, and just sees you as a stupid civilian to "graze" on while he's out.
Screw 'em. |

Screw 'em. | Um my thinking on this happened when the incident happened.
A time when I was very conservative in my thinking.
There you go putting spin on it, making up things about the incident that wasn't true. You're using negative attribution to make yourself feel better with the outcome. I'm sure you believe it deeply though. After all you would want the same thing for your own son (life in prison) if he did something like that, because you know he could never change, right?
BTW, which prisons are you donating extra money to? |
