you started it :P lol
w/o flaming anybody I do think this is a great thing. Simply for the reason that it helps support a competitor to Intel. I use Intel, and I've never had any problems with it. However I do feel that everybody needs a good competitor (which AMD has shown that it is) to keep them in check. Otherwise they get to be huge enormous monoliths that you can't touch Then they start really tearing up the consumer....
"All for the sake of the consumer" of course

hehe, these things always just turn into a major intel bash, and that's what pisses me off. i'm not saying that intel is better than amd, but some people tend to make it into a whole "intel is evil because they're this big corporate giant who misleads customers" and on and on and how amd is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
it's all just tiring after a while... |

I think it is good that AMD is getting business. As long as Intel has competition so they don't own everything. |

Microsoft was a company that managed to trash competitors and became a... dare I say monopoly?
Linux comes up and now no more Win9x base in MS operating systems. Win2k/XP is definately a quantum leap from previous generations of products and Microsoft would have been slower in bringing them to market if they didn't have the Linux threat.
Remember how ugly PC's used to be? All the sudden Apple releases the iMac and now PC's are getting more stylish.
When AMD released the Athlon remember how Intel all the sudden was forced to push everything in high gear so that AMD wouldn't trample everything Intel could offer performance wise?
Competition is good for the consumer. EA is one example of AMD breaking into Intel's corporate PC sanctuary. This is a good thing for all consumers.
