That or reduce production costs by making our chips more inefficient.
j/k, j/k don't want to offend the intel fans.

Hmm may have to lay off 1000 workers as well.
That doesn't count the jobs from indonesia.
They're paying them a whopping .25 a day, can't have that! |

| I second that.
I will also add, that when you whine about the antics, policies, or shortcomings of "the other side", whomever that may be it comes off like you are still trying to convince someone (yourself maybe?) that your side is better.
Why not make an informed purchase of the best product and/or best value at that moment in time and leave it at that? The pendulum will swing both ways, why not go with the flow? |

I second that as well. Maybe people try to..I guess..."enslave" themselves to a company sometimes,
I'm a consumer. I want the best bang for my buck. If the P4 ever gives me more bang for the buck than Athlon, I'm gunna get me a P4.
Heck, if a Cyrix gives me the most bang for the buck, gimme one of those.
Very unlikely though. Unless AMD starts jacking up prices sometime soon, I think things will remain the same.
But if Intel wants to keep spending thier money fueling ads and stuff, and tacking that on to processor price, I think I'll pass.
the last cool ad was the one with the Blue man group and the P4 intro, but I'm sure that didnt make anyone stand up and wanna buy a P4. Same with pumping all that cash into WinXP. I can why they did it...to boost XP prestige in order to boost PC sales to rebound the whole tech industry, but I dont think its justified (No, WinXP is not a killer app, I dont care what MS says).
AMD, comparatively, spends very little on advertising, and Im sure that contributes to the low prices. Also I'm sure they dont spend nearly as much as Intel on R&D since Intel already churned out a .13um chip and AMD's still got a few months to go. I think theyre also sacrificing profits for market share, which isn't such a bad idea at this point when thier trying to topple the processor king. I hope they can keep it up. CPU industry needs all the competition it can get. |
