MS establishes joint venture in China

Quote:
Microsoft said that the new company will develop enterprise and government software applications, as well as products based on its .Net technology, for the Chinese and overseas market. The venture is part of Microsoft's commitment to help with the growth of China's IT industry, the company said.

Always look out for #1.
China booted MS from their gov't systems so I guess this is their foot back in the door.

Gotta start somewhere

Better a piece of the pie than no pie at all.

Maybe China's move and Microsoft's response indicate that CHOICE is becomming a reality.

Welcome to the future.

The easiest way to GET technology is to BUY it.

Among the first Western companies allowed into China (maybe about 20+ years ago) was Coca Cola. It wasn't for the soda pop. It was to learn bottling technology. Coca Cola is the world's largest bottler. Bottling soy sauce, bottling Coke is the same thing. They also got an Italian tomato sauce factory. That Italian canner was the most modern canning facility in the world. They invite companies in and duplicate them.

As for getting rid of Microsoft. Why would a foreing government want Microsoft. License agreements allow Microsoft to come in and inspect computers, etc. The Chinese could probably use Linnux without any foreing inspection.

As for the .NET initiative. They'll duplicate it with another OS.
