| EBay is going to raise auction fees
They're testing the waters to see what they can get away with.
Since they just reported very good profits, greed is the only explanation.
Notice that BUY IT NOW is going to now cost. Too bad because I think that is a feature that should be mandatory and cost free.

Quote "" said the rate hikes will help it put more money into marketing, technical upgrades, and customer support. ""
Roflol, what customer support?? get burned there and you should just stick your head betwen your legs and kiss your butt,,, they don't care,, lots of rippers still selling that should had been banned,,, it's all about the money....
I deal with here for my toys now, unless it's for diecast cars, which I still get form the bay from a long time trusted seller..

And if you think it's cause they need more money, I've got some swamp land to sell you in Northern Ontario. |

I totally agree. This is one of the only .Coms that has pull true profit from almost day one. I think they made over 90million or some disgusting amount like that. (Not gros, net profit!). Raising prices without adding free features is horrible.
I love the buy it now feature too. I would be willing ot pay 25 cents per auction for it but no more than now. I think they may get too big for their britches and it will eventually loose its "true" auction feel. They will end up being a flee market instead of an auction.
Greed sucks. I used to be an Ebay addict. Not anymore. I still go there and look around. I also buy dicast cars from e-toybugs (or something like that). I buy brochures for the cars that i like (gota great deal on seom 90-94 mint eagle talon brochures!). But if there is a specific product I like, I email the seller offline and ask if they have more. If they sell it to me that way, they don't have to incur the (now raising) auction prices.

Mostly morons bid there anyway. That's why it's primarily a sellers market.....all the morons bid the product up toe 1/2 to full value!
It's insane!
They said on the news they made something like $200m.....4th quarter? I dunno....I heard $200mil.
Ebay will eventually go into another business venue or start buying other businesses. This is what AOL did...

Some of the fee increases sound like they aren't much. However like the guy who rigged the software to put a penny from each account into his own account when tallying interest on the bank accounts, with a volume like eBay ANY increase means large dollars in their pockets for no additional value added or work.
I guess I better get moving with my daughter's Matchbox Cars. I auctioned several that she'd found when going over her things and we put the proceeds in the grandkids bank accounts. Now she's found several others unused and even unopened bubble packs on some. I've been putting off taking the pictures and preparing the auctions. I guess I should do so before the end of the month. |

I have never sold anything on Ebay but have bought a few items. For the most part I can find a Vendor (pc parts) who can give me what I want for a similiar price.
It is a great place for collectibles.

Well think about the guy who started ebay, what was he trying to get? Wasn't it Pez dispensers for his wife or something like that? |
