What's AMD gonna do now?

So how is your 5Ghz Hammer faster than the 110Ghz IBM chip??

Well the IPC.. uhhh..... well.... hmm... we'll get back to you with a huge marketing ploy designed to re-educate you.. AGAIN!!!

To Intel:
So how is your 10Ghz P5 Faster than the IBM 110Ghz?

Hold on... reduce the IPC... increase clock frequency.. nope only 90... decrease.. up voltage... YES!!! 111Ghz!!!

Umm that's only 0.002 clocks per cycle... that's nothing faster than the P4 2GHz...

BUT IT'S 1Ghz FASTER THAN IBM!!!! DUH!!!! THAT'S ALL THE CONSUMER NEEDS TO KNOW!!! > (evil smily)

Well from what I can see, IBM doesn't seem to have any thoughts of bringing this to the PC market, rather the communications market. They said they currently hold the record at 80Ghz processors, but do we see those in the market?! nope...

Not to mention, its not designed for the same kind of work our processors do, such as 3d etc.

Also depends on how much work it does per clock cycle...

Thats a big jump---their prior chip "only" ran at 80G---Newport Beach's Conexant Systems is gonna wack em one with the 200G followup...

that would be sweet if amd brought out " The Secret Weapon" tomorrow, a cpu that ran at half (55 mhz) but matched it in performance and killed it in price at $185 and of course was designed for mainstream applications. ahh my dream scenario. intel would fold if that happened.

Good Grief!!! That's not my dream scenerio. I want both AMD and Intel to stick around. AMD would stick it to ya on the price if they could, just like Intel use to do. Ruthless competition = good prices.

Go AMD!!! Go Intel!!!

So does that mean that I won't hear the "echo" of my own voice while using my cell phone now?
