nice! but they still need an under $300 entry to compete with intel's low end dual core. Bury 'em AMD, Bury 'em.
-
July 7th, 2005, 12:23 PM #3I was talking with another person about that on AMD forums, it would be nice if AMD came out with a 3600+ with dual 3000+ cores, made them ~300 bucks, and burried Intel into the ground.

$400 is still a weeee bit high. If they can get it down to $300, Intel better hope they win the lawsuit, otherwise AMD will be taking over
Wake up you're dead.

If they can get a sub $300 chip out by this fall sometime, that will most definitly make my upgrade day.

Yeah, about when nVidia releases their 7600. I probably won't get one, but who knows.

???? 300 ? what the 3800 is near $400 anyways. why complain? that is good if you think about what goes into makeing these chips. One prob though 512k of L2 ?? thats it?

I wont go to dual cores for a while, until they become cheaper number 1, and number 2 when game support is better. But hell why do you need dual cores for games anyways its not like you need to get 160fps in 1280x1024, human eye cant recognize frame rate beyond 40fps(even less than that i think)
-
July 8th, 2005, 11:28 PM #10I think it's 50 or so fps non-visible..not less than 40...cause I personally notice that.

OK, let's get a few things straight here...
I have no idea when the 7600 is coming out, I haven't heard any details about it.
Dual cores have 128k L1 cache + 512k (or 1mb) L2 cache PER CORE
If you want dual cores, then get one of the Intels (which suck, btw).
Whoever says dual-cores (AMD's) are bad for gaming, well, they've got another thing coming. It's like saying that all of the A64 series suck in gaming
since that's basically what the dual cores are:
3800+ x2 will be 2x3200+
4200+ is 2x 3500+
4400+ is 2x 3700+
4600+ is 2x FX51
4800+ is 2x FX53
The reason why I like to get a LOT more fps than my eye can see, whatever you guys claim that number might be, is because the frame rate is NOT constant, don't you get it
if you get a 40fps average, do you think for one second that you will always get around 40fps??? NO, you won't- 40fps is a very low fps average and I guarantee you that if you get a 40fps average that you will get lag and skipped frames during the game.

That's hilarious GZ! Nothing like a little controversy to get people stirred-up. This will be fun to watch :)
