Mandrake Cash Flow Problem

My favorite Linux distro seems to be at a pivotal point. Hopefully everything will turn out OK. And, in case anyone is interested, I am a member of the Mandrake Users Club. I really believe in the Mandrake way of doing Linux and wanted to pass this along.

This is one unfortunate drawback of having so many linux distributions. People who use Linux have no qualms with supporting their distro (for the most part), but there are so many that it is almost a fruitless cause. I use Slackware and I support it with no problems. While Mandrake is a great distribution, I just don't use it, and therefore can I really spend more money to support it as well? And if I support mandrake, should I support Redhat, Suse, etc? The many (great) distributions unfortunately make us choose who to support which means that we are doomed to lose some of the great distributions due their sheer number and operating costs

It's a shame that we have to choose sides so to speak and cannot just support the Linux cause as a whole.

I'm a member of the club as well. I also buy each of the powerpacks when they release a new distro. I hope everything works out for them. 'Drake is a great distro for those of us who like to use Linux but have little time to learn every little part of Linux.

I bought a membership a few months ago. They had a very good response from the linux community, and I didn't think they would have had any finacial problems for a while.

Now they report they are having finacial problems. This really concerns me. Hopefully they are just expanding and need some cash.
