The reason such cooling was adopted rather than a more standard solution was because the 7800GTX TOP actually comes pre-overclocked right from the beginning. In fact, the clock speeds here are 486MHz on the core and 1350MHz on the RAM, as opposed to the 7800GTX's default clocks of 430MHz on the core and 1.2GHz on the RAM. This is also a somewhat emerging trend with enthusiast videocard brands, but it isn't so common that you'll find one from every vendor, so the 7800GTX TOP here from ASUS is still quite unique in this regard.
