| Apple Rolls Out Intel-Based iMacs, Laptops
"SAN FRANCISCO — Apple Computer Inc.'s historic shift to Intel Corp. microprocessors came months earlier than expected Tuesday, as CEO Steve Jobs unveiled desktop and notebook computers based on new two-brained chips from the world's largest semiconductor company's.
The first Macs to deploy Intel's Core Duo processors will be the latest iMac desktop, whose circuitry is all built into the display, and the MacBook Pro laptop." Link |

Hm, I'm seriously thinking about giving Apple a try for my next computer.
Hopefully these models will drop in price in a year or two.

I wonder if this means that now Mac OS X will run on all x86 CPU's, or only on Intel based Macs? |

The original objective was to still have the "Apple Macintosh" hardware running OS X.
But since both of the developer beta releases were hacked and running on standard (read: non Apple approved) hardware I haven't heard anything about how Apple is going to handle this. |

If I had $2000 for the lowest end Core Duo notebook I'd be all over that. I'd love to have dual boot OSX and Windows(for games). |

Yeah, then we'd have a real side by side comparison of the two OS's. |

I'm already starting to save up for a macbook pro. However two things have to happen first: Gen 2 macbooks need to ship and Microsoft needs to add EFI support to windows. Otherwise I'll be waiting. |
