| Conroe Early Benchmarks & Updates
I think I'll be upgrading my s478 Intel system at the end of this year with a new Intel system. Conroe had a 41% advantage (make that 20%, the testers screwed up the AMD benches on the 1st run) over the FX60 running the F.E.A.R. benchmark. It's not that far ahead in all the other benches run, but... WOW!

Doesn't the bus architecture on these new boards provide for a lot more data movement than the current AMD platforms? I wonder how much of this is actually processor power. |

Yes, the Intel's DDR2 does provide an advantage but the article states that DDR2 won't allow the AM2 to match Conroe's performance. There really hasn't been much info in the mobo. I'm very interested to read more about the new Intel chipsets. |

IM confident AMD will come out & as they always do & tear intels processors to pieces. i would hate to live in a world where intel is superior wont be long until new amd chips come out anyway. see how they perform. |

The article can state all it wants, JLK. They don't know anything for sure.
I'm just saying that those scores could be misleading. Platform vs platform is hardly ever a fair test. |

With the intro of the different sockets from AMD, It opens more doors for them.
Dont overlook the operton chips that just came out like the 885 thats kick ace.
I belive it will be a month or 2 untill a Nice product that will beat Intel. Now also note that Its 2.66 ghz and not 3.somethings so that means that they might be tammpering with shorter pipelines and well placed ones like AMD. |
