does email.com still run?
personally I dont use pop3, I use mail in all sorts of machines and OS's and I dont want to bother downloading all the messages everytime Istart up a new OS not to mention setting it up every freakin' time lol
So I just stick with the webpage
everybody is using subscription services nowadays, since advertising used to rule the world and now it barely pays for minor bills

I just got the message the other day as well and I am dissapointed too.
I use the POP3 yahoo stuff all the time. It's a shame they have to start charging for it. I could even see $10 / year or something similar - but $29.99. Sheeesh, that seems a bit High just for POP mail forwarding. I don't know what I'm going to do yet.

Why is it all these free E-mail provider's like Hotmail, Yahoo and quite a few others are suddenly money sucking people?
They have been providing free e-mail's for over five, six years all of sudden they start charging people for what ever they think they can charge you for!

Yeah, I use Yahoo for some accounts to mamange agroup listserv, and I forard to my work account so I can keep tabs on 'em. This is a royal pain now, so I'll have to have a look at some other free email progs which will forward.
Yahoo is one of the biggest free email things form what I've heard, so this could put a dent in their user base

Ellie, welcome to TechIMO!

As to Yahoo! email, the decision was likely based upon the number of users for a specific top level domain.
Anyway, I pay for Yahoo! Mail.
