Ok folks, listen up. This isn't about Quake, but it's important. Who here has a CDRW? How about a cell phone? Well, what about a digital camera? Well then may I suggest you read the article about the proposed Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act. What is this? Here's a glimpse
According to the CBDTPA, any software with the ability to reproduce "copyrighted works" may not be sold in the United States after the Federal Communications Commission's regulations take effect. Even programmers who distribute their code for free would be prohibited from releasing newer versions -- unless the application included federally approved technology.
Violators face civil and criminal penalties.
Nice huh? And yes boys and girls, this covers your games too. This in-depth article from Wired gives just a small portion on what's possible here. Something you may want to take special interest in. Another informative news article can be found at Viahardware.com as well. Needless to say, this will change the way many of us live.
| I copyed this from a forum that i am a mod at and thought it mite be important to read *for some ppl.

I totally agree! That's like the government trying to enforce the "VHS FBI Warning" that pops up before you watch a movie...nice try Feds.

Oh, the government will eventually get their way. Pretty soon they'll shove wireless X10 cameras up our butts and all computers will have some kind of device in them that monitors everywhere we go.
And dont forget the computer chips implanted in our brains |
