| XFX 790i 3-Way SLI Motherboard Review Quote:
It took some tweaking of the voltages to reach my final stable speed of 542.5MHz FSB or 2170MHz FSB (QDR). At that speed the memory was running at 690MHz (DDR3 1380MHz). The CPU voltage was set to 1.5v and the actual reading of the voltage in BIOS and through the thermal monitor came out to be 1.45v. FSB voltage also had to be increased to 1.40v which throws it into the red according to the motherboard BIOS. Memory stayed at its' default 1.5v. The NVIDIA SPP and MCP were set to 1.45v and 1.5v respectively. GTLVREF Lane 0 and Lane 1 voltages were always left on automatic and when I hit my final overclock speed those settings showed a drop of -80mv. GTLVREF Lane 1&2 settings stayed the same throughout the testing at +00mv. I think its' fair to say that automatic voltage control has been improved but like its' predecessors you have to watch the settings very closely or you might fry something. One improvement here is that the board isn't as aggressive with memory voltage as the 680i and 780i SLI boards were. Hopefully going forward fried memory modules will become a thing of the past.
