| Asus GeForce EN9800GTX 512MB Video Card Review Quote:
While Nvidia opted to give its new lineup a new naming scheme, the 9800 GTX retains the same G92 core as found on its later model 8800 videocards. From a technical standpoint, the 9800 GTX is not much more than a higher clocked second run 8800 GTS (first run batches were based around the G80 core). To be fair, Nvidia could have went with a new naming scheme when they refreshed their 8800 lineup with the G92 core, but because they didn't, they've opened themselves up to scrutiny by merely upping the core and memory clockspeeds and calling it a 9800, seemingly indicating an architectural change.
