M$ nixes netbook SSDs and hybrid drives.

bit-tech.net | Microsoft bans netbooks with hybrid storage

Microsoft has banned netbook manufacturers from making hybrid storage netbooks: those with both SSD and hard drives when using Windows XP Home, bit-tech has learnt.

It seems Redmond gets in quite a fluff with regards to the new market of mini-portables and this arbitrary licensing limitation is in addition to the "maximum of 1GB of memory" already enforced, if companies want to buy Windows XP Home to stick on their cheap 10"ers.
It seems that for now only the MSI Wind U115 netbook is affected, but youve got to wonder what M$ has against netbooks. Linux is an excellent alternative and IMO M$ is driving people into using Linux.

If your in the market for a netbook, will this change your mind about buying a netbook?
They say technology slows down for no one. I know it outruns my wallet. I figure its because my wallet isn't light enough yet.

Even if MSI start to bundle vista or windows 7 with it, I think a lot of people will put their own XP installs on it. Or Linux, for that.
