Atom a 'No Show' for MID Marketplace?

The Intel Atom processor family practically dominates the netbook market, but where are the litany of even smaller mobile devices once destined to receive the low-power x86 chip?

In an attempt to answer my own question, it would seem chipset power utilization is likely the primary current road block to widespread Atom deployment for MID devices. Intel would probably benefit greatly from an Atom-based, low-power SoC (system on chip) model, which could reportedly be ready for mass production later this year at TSMC. More info:
