| Nvidia Predicts 570x GPU Performance Increase
From TG-Daily Nvidia touts rapid GPU performance boost Quote: |
[i]Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has predicted that GPU computing will experience a rapid performance boost over the next six years. According to Huang, GPU compute is likely to increase its current capabilities by 570x, while 'pure' CPU performance will progress by a limited 3x.
| I can't say this is entirely unrealistic but damn I can't imagine a 500 fold increase in whats one the market now. But I'll say this, its hard to make a 1-1 comparison however if you look at GPU performance numbers from 6 yrs ago compared to the ones today you are talking drastically high numbers. I don't know that we see anything close to a 100x jump in performance every year for that time frame but you do see a major leap from what was out back then to what is out now.
I tried pulling up a couple charts on Tom's to put some numbers in perspective. But if you look at the old 2005 charts and compare the numbers to some of the high end today the x factor is pretty astounding!
