Was looking around and didn't see this posted. Thought it might be of interest to those who are planing a build soon.

Yes I agree. Don't expect anyone to believe anything Charlie has wrote. He's been caught several times lying. In fact, that's why he lost his job at "The Inquirer" is because he got caught lying.

LOL, that guy is one crazy kook...

Word from sources deep in the bowels of 2701 San Tomas Expressway tell us that the OEMs have been notified that the GTX285 is EOL'd, the GTX260 is EOL in November or December depending on a few extraneous issues, and the GTX275 will be EOL'd within 2 weeks. I would expect this to happen around the time ATI launches its Juniper based boards, so before October 22.

The lone survivor, maybe, is the GTX295, available only as a complete board from Nvidia. This is said to be almost impossible to get, likely for reasons we went into in the earlier financial article, cost. AIBs do not expect this product to last very long, likely until current stock is depleted.
just these 2 statements prove its complete bull, the GTX 285, 275 and 260 are canned, but possibly the 295 continues? How? the 295 is 2 275's on one board, so if the 275 is hosed so is the 295

sounds like some sort of Anti-Nvidia Propaganda to help boost ATI sales.

if I'm not mistaken that was one of the reasons this guy got shit canned from The Inquirer also, besides the made up shit, was the Bias towards one of the brands, I'm pretty sure it was ATI if I remember too. At least I remember reading about that recently too.

Or some propoganda that they want Nvidia's sales to boost considering "the cards will be stopped." Either way It seems like this guy is really asking for a boot in the ass. If the people that hired him figure out he was fired for doing something this drastic before, they just might fire him as well. I don't know what side this childish fanboy is on, but I know he's going to have hell to pay.

the article right before OP's link, the douche claims that there are plenty of cards and the shortages are artificial.

I want to thank all of you for setting me straight on Charlie. However if you fallow all of the links you can't help but to think that something is afoot at Nvidia. Apple drops them Dell drops them, Possible litigation from Intel.

"I've managed to run 200 instances of F@H GPU and 4 CPU (i7 processor HT off). The 7th card is not fully loaded. This could also be an issue with EVGA X58 mobo.
I use together two Silverstone Strider PSU's 1500W each that is probably too much but
now I experiment with overclocking (cards are factory unlocked). Max power consumption
    I've noticed was 2400W.
The whole system is cooled by my own construction of liquid CO2 which is heavy an inconvenient and I have to supply a new cylinder every 5 days.
That's It. I wish everybody to improve your folding speed using GT300 soon!"

for the average Joe Blow this ain't going to happen doesn't seem cost effective to me. changing a CO2 cartridge for overclocking every 5 days. much less the Power bill. Green is out here.

200 instances of the GPU client? Wha, Huh?

Nevermind I see they just quoted something in the link.

I was wondering WTF, when I went back and read Souls past posts, and was only a year ago built their first PC and was buying it piece by piece, found it odd to be building some sort of CO2/LN2 cooling system, etc.

That link from evga forums may or may not be true.
For now we will have to wait and see what Nvidia brings to the table.

This reminds me of when ATI bottomed out going from the 2900 series to the 3800 series. Everybody was jumping on the Nvidia ship.Nvidia was dominating going from the 7000 series to the 8000 series, kinda like ATI with the 4000 to 5000 series at the present. Seems like dejavu.

We found out at work the nvidia accidently shipped a bad group of gpu's to manufacturers so Charlie probably got wind of that and blew it out of proportion like he always does.

We get corporate news so we can prepare for a lot of "return to sender" stamps on boxes so we know which truck to put the boxes on. Probably one of the best benefits of the job.
