Google, Sony Prep Vevo Music Video Site
Vevo, an online music video venture backed by Google and Sony, is scheduled to publicly launch on Tuesday (12/9) night. Google will be drawing upon infrastructure and technologies of its popular YouTube service to power the site, while much of the initial content roll out will be derived from the Universal Music Group.
In an interview with CNET last week, Morris made no bones about the fact that by launching Vevo, the music industry is serving notice: no longer will middlemen or third parties profit from the labels' video content without giving up a fair share.
