Toasted skin syndrome?
The new name for a strange skin condition that results from using a laptop on your lap.
I thought that's why the manufacturers have been trying to change the name to notebooks.Have you ever worked on your laptop computer with it sitting on your lap, heating up your legs? If so, you might want to rethink that habit.
Doing it a lot can lead to "toasted skin syndrome," an unusual-looking mottled skin condition caused by long-term heat exposure, according to medical reports.

Not only can laptop cause this. Heating pads also cause this syndrome. Prolonged laptop use, the way in which the machine is intended to be used, can lead to an affliction called “toasted skin syndrome”. A condition commonly observed in individuals working in environments of extreme temperature, for instance factories, toasted skin syndrome manifests itself with irregular dark patterns on the affected areas. An incidence of fried skin syndrome which occurred in a 12-year old boy with a video game habit has given new prominence to the malady, which could result in cancer of the skin under certain conditions.
