    Keylogger installed on Samsung laptop

A user purchased a Samsung laptop model R525 and ran a complete system scan and it had StarLogger keylogger installed on it. He then purchased another laptop which was the same model and that also had the keylogger installed. When he contacted the tech support personnel they denied it but then admitted it later.
The the company admitted that the keylogger was to "monitor the performance of the machine and to find out how it is being used."

Interesting article that I came across read the complete article at the following link:

I read this report and several other posted off of it and saw no evidence that Samsung was at fault. As of last night no one, on any sites I visited had been able to even corroborate the story. It looks like it was a case of some seriously bad reporting to me as there is now an update that says it was a false report!!

[UPDATE 3/31/11: Samsung has issued a statement saying that the finding is false. The statement says the software used to detect the keylogger, VIPRE, can be fooled by Microsoft's Live Application multi-language support folder. I've seen confirmation at F-Secure and two other publications, here and here. I've changed the headline on this post to reflect this new information. Still no explanation for why Samsung originally confirmed the keylogger's existence to Hassan.]
Its a shame that a "reputable" site like NetworkWorld would run with a story without double checking the details,

Thanks RicheemxX for those articles and yes that has cleared Samsung of any wrong doing.

The issue is with the anti virus as it was giving a false positive just with the name of an empty folder with SL and it though that it was the StarLogger keylogger!

This is a clarification from network world that it might be a false alarm UPDATE: Samsung keylogger could be false alarm
