hmmm, after much leisurely digging at msnbc over the new matrix movies to come out, i stumbled upon this link by some act of God. http://www.msnbc.com/news/851081.asp
apparently china is sick and tired of importing from other countries to get CPU power they don't want/need. perhaps this communist government is doing the country a lot of good. more power to them!
although weighing in at a massive 260MHZ, perhaps they can pull completely away from the standard market, and fall across an even better way at moving data.
(oh please oh please discover light data)
i wonder what kind of board these babies are going to use or if they are going to even use them in motherboards already created (i.e. socket 7, A, 478)
Oh well, perhaps they can make some money at home with 1 billion potential customers
MERRY CHRISTMAS! |

don't forget that china has a big, ongoing linux initiative...
these cpus obviously aren't going to run the latest m$ OS's but you could build a modest decent little box for countless households & small businesses. |

Maybe they'll find a way to make chips without Spruce Pine Silicon. |

yeah, that'll be the day.
Now watch, in 1 year the headlines say:
Chinese discover room temperature superconducting chips operating near 900googleplexHertz, selling for around 500 dollars a piece.
Then, China Rules world...
and intel goes bankrupt as well as AMD, but at least we could say it was fun while it lasted. LOL
I wonder if they will use linux, or if they have gotten sick and tired of typing in our english characters, and totally went back to square one and just did simplified chinese. that would be cool. Then they could make their own OS. Say it would be called Zen Master OS. LOL |

It will take China approximately five to seven years to reach the point the modern world is now in computer chip development. By that time the modern world will still be that far ahead. They have neither the finances nor the scientific data to advance any faster, unless they steal the technology from someone else. |

mmmm i don't know about finances, they could always inflate their market to achieve all the money that they need, and hope to float it out on the CPU, after all, they are commies, they could just force ever family to purchase one within like 5 years, resulting in massive demand versus supply, and cause a form of panic to get one. LOL, im thinking like a capitalist.
But it may take even longer than 5 years to hit the 2-3Ghz line, because competition sparked the technology, they may not be in it for the competition, but you know they had some help getting where they are.
I wonder if they will discover that investing more money into caches results in computer speeds that are faster with less MHz...
Perhaps they'll be smart, and have a 266FSB and a 266 Processor. there would be Zero bottleneck. |

Or perhaps Israel will get done working on that Genetic computer. That would be nice |

Turbo linux, that's one that's popular over there.

Not to beat a dead thread, but just how much stuff do we buy from China?
Aren't some of our higher technology gadgets including some form of Linux?
Perhaps they could make money abroad with 280 million customers who need 10 devices with one of these chips included. As more money pours into their chip company, more money can be spent to research and develop new technology for their chips. | |
