Talking

"Tripp Hammer"

Sounds like a cartoon super hero.

We recently got cable internet here in East Central Illinois. Since I've been on, my webserver has been getting slammed daily from machines on the local Mediacom network that are infected with Nimda. Hundreds of them, all on the same network segment. M$ needs to do something like this because average users are too uniformed to do it themselves. Yet if M$ starts locking down Windows, it'll lose its usability and the very same users will complain.

I know M$ bashing is a favorite pastime here, but just think about how many people use Windows. If GM had that same market share in cars, it would be a rare thing indeed to see a Ford pickup on the road.

This is the part that I think is funny:

"Microsoft is also looking at ways to shore up the security of its products before they hit the shelves."

We all know that M$ chooses to have security holes in Windows. When somebody finds them they have to patch them.

All the more reason to have an area here devoted strictly to security.

The article says NOTHING about security. Just jargon about OEMs and new rule guidelines. However, I am glad that these new guidelines will be in effect soon.
