AMD doubled market share
Wait..in Japan, AMD is beating out Intel in consumer CPU's?
I have a hard time believing it, not because AMD doesnt deserve it, but because I really doubted that the average consumer would have been willing to change so readily.
And assuming that Cyrix and Macs and all them other folk have 3% combined of the market in Europe, AMD's leading there too, which is not just a country, but an entire continent.
I thought this day would come eventually, but not so soon.

I think you'd need more then a couple thousand, once you get there you would find that Japan is quite a pricey country to live in.

Nice improvement, AMD deserves it.
They won't take over the market as long as so many stubborn people believe AMD is crap and you need patches to run anything on them.
People say "Yeah, but the P4 encodes a DVD faster !"
That's the only feature so far that is faster than AMD and very few people do that.

Exactly; are those DVD to Mpeg4 rippers even legal from a copyright stand point? No much to brag about, if it lands you in jail.

Nice!
Maybe now everyone is starting to realize that Intel isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Go AMD! My Athlon 800 and I salute you!

Well I still think Intel is gonna be more popular, they advertise after all.

And, the bad news is......
AMD laid off 1700 workers today. Go figure!

I'm not surprised. With chip sales and prices as low as they are, their profit margin has to be shrinking.... Wasn't Intel LOSING MONEY????

After all the articles and reviews you see, you reach a point when you have to choose the best not the famous ..
One year ago i wouldn't even consider AMD ...i was happy with my P!!! 1GHz and felt like i own the best PC on earth and i should even kick the Tbird1.4 ... but not ofcourse i was wrong ...
The point of no return to Intel was when they released the Tualatin chip and didn't give us the chance to upgrade without changing the board .. so i kicked Intel for good...
Still many people in Japan look at P4 as the best CPU that human has ever made... nontheless, AMD is growing and getting high reputation with each day ...
GO AMD!!!
Regards

Again, WTG for AMD - much prefer the AMD750 set to any intel chips that we've owned so far.

From what I've read, the only real advantage the P4 has is its ability to deal with heat. Fortunately that very rarely becomes an issue. For a person like me, if you're dealing with a tight budget, and still want a "screaming" gaming machine there's only one route to go...

Thanks for the link. After reading some more, it seems that not all PS3's cooling fan work correctly. Some never spin up fast, which causes the overheating issue. Luckily, my PS3 gets very loud...
