    Build your own Segway!

Well, don't, actually, because it has no safety features. Still...

Cool - but it does have a kill switch and an emergency shutoff for over 45 degrees tilt. I can't wait to watch the video of the right wheel lockup bug!

You know, I love to see this kind of stuff.

Years ago, it was people like this guy who were the innovators -- guys tinkering in their garage who came up with the "next big thing".

Today we've got corporations who do a cost-benefit analysis before lifting a finger.
    • "Will we be able to recoup our development costs from inventing a teleporter?"
    • "How much profit can we make per unit?"
    • "Is there a way we could make the customer pay a recurring monthly fee for using it?"
    • "Can it be made in Korea so the labor costs can be minimalized?"
This kind of thinking means that thousands of good ideas get squashed before they even get attempted. That age of invention for the sake of "seeing if it can be done" has been left behind. Sad really.

In the fairly likely event of the software crashing, a wire coming loose, a component failing, or the batteries running low, the wheels will lock and the entire kinetic energy of the system will be used to accelerate my head toward the ground.

    Interesting concept.

Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.
