Ok, I'll toss some conversation into the ring

I know there are a few space fans here and here's another cool site about the galaxies and universe.

I heard about this site today, it's based on the Nova (PBS) channel and it's callled Nova Online. So I started cruising around and found a great section on the Cosmos.

Check it out; there are some cool photograhs in here. Some links include "Death Star" (schedule to air on Jan. 8), "A Bad Day in the Milky Way", and a flash presentation of "Catalog of the Cosmos"

Very cool stuff. I wonder if Capt'n Kirk and crew saw a few of these...

    http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/gamma/

    Enjoy the view

How are these gentlemen supporting themselves? I believe Mike is right just becuase the end line sounds to suspicious "What are we going to do with it...ask us after its over" (not an exact quote). Well now I am off to camp out in front of harkins for the next year in order to see the second installment of LOTR.

Hey Mark, I'll put my .02cents in...

Pertaining to the Starwars star-studded fanz, I have to say, that is very humorous. I remember when Episode 1 was announced for release, and in just a couple of weeks prior to the movie release there were fans camping outside the movie theaters waiting ever so patiently for that special time. Were they let down? Some would say yes. Personally, I've seen literally thousands of motion pictures, and I have never done something as extreme as camping outside a theater to wait for it's release.

Pertaining to the worlds oldest man...by Guiness' knowledge , I remember reading about that in December 2k, it amazes me that we haven't found people exceeding that age yet. It doesn't surprise me though, that the oldest person living is a woman @ age114. After all, Women have greater longevity than men

Pertaining to the Israeli Government interception of 50 TONS of Iranian Weapons, I am most grateful that they were halted. If they made it to the Israeli port of Eilat, our war on Terrorism would have been made a lot harder! These kinds of events don't make it anymore comfortable to be living in this day and age.

BTW, many thanks Socalgal, one of the few great interests I have is in space and astronomy...and the links you provided sparked that once lost interest. Computers kind of got in the way, lol!

I hope this pilot program kicks off, I would enjoy discussing issues such as the one's you listed Mark.

I was watching television and someone said that you have to look at the dangers the earth faces like it was going 90 miles an hour down a highway with side streets opening up along its entire length and cars on those streets going 60 miles an hour with no stop signs or lights. Call me crazy but I once heard someone say something on the radio akin to we live in a space that is less real than a under lying realer space and that something could trigger a type of popping that would uncover the realer space and move out at the speed of light destroying the less real space.

My Uncle once said that if you dont know the source of a comment and cant quote someone or recite an article verbatim (spelling?) then I shouldnt comment on it. With that said I wont hold it against anyone for doubting the information. Take it as I present it and nothing more.

The "realer space" stuff interests me. What channel? Some have web sites with corresponding extra details.

Israel caught that shipment, and Arafat with his pants down... but how many slip through unnoticed???

Arafat is a big fat liar....

Oh BTW, Israel and Palestine will NEVER get along... EVER

Notice how Israel is a blessed nation among many poor nations???

    That's not just a coincidence...

I agree FreakyOCR, other surrounding nations tend to be dishonest when it comes to foreign policy and other matters.

That is part of the reason the US is friendly to Israel.

Scott the realer space thing I heard over the radio in NC it was a program set aside time to talk to professors/scientists in the area am radio stuff to tell you the truth not something I listened to regularly I was just bored (sometimes the preachers really get going on the am channels and you couldnt pay for better entertainment) . Wish I knew if there was something to it myself but as I said earlier this information might have to be sacked into the junk barrel for my lack of identifying a clear source.

    Re: Israel -

I agree - also they are the lone democracy - surrounded by dictator's, Kings, and President's for life.

They've got no oil, but they've scratched out a decent standard of living in a fairly short time. Some of these other states should take a lesson from them - while their oil fields produce billions and trillions - their people live in poverty.

Yes, I know Israel has been helped greatly over the years, but so have the local despots surrounding them.

    Cheers -
