I dont think any of the fans would make the performance slow down though....but you might boot with the side case cover off and see if you can pinpoint the noise.

If its the hard drive making the noise that make make more sense as to why it is slowing down the performance.

If it was a fan then it would either CPU or PSU.

I had a noise similar and it was the CPU.

But I agree with JP a noisy fan wouldn't, IMO, cause a system slow down.

I had the same problem. Except for me it wasn't slowing down performance. Mine was just a fan dying. See if you can pinpoint the source.

pinpointed

well i found where the noise is from... im not very good at hardware so bare with me... noise is coming from some kind of fan.. dont know if this is the computer fan or what because there is 2 of them... 1 on the back of the computer and 1 attached to the motherboard... the 1 attached to the mother board is the 1 making the noise.. its labeled COOLER something so im guessing its something to do with the computer cooler? it is more complex than the fan on the back of the computer.. the fan on the back is just a fan swirling .. this 1 has many cables behind it and stuff

Yeah, the heatsink fan. That would explain the lack of performance if your cpu temps are going up. May wanna look into replacing that ASAP.

No.

If it's dying, it's dying.

Last thing you want is for it to seize up and stop.

Cost of a fan is a LOT less than a fan and a CPU.

Fairly straightforward to replace.

Just have to be careful taking it off the heatsink/processor.

Send a message via AIM to Jokerswild
If it is a crack in a fan blade, just take an old solder gun and tip and easily melt the two pieces back together, no more fan noises.

But I serously doubt it would slow system performance
