help me with my memory prob
help me with my memory prob
i have a Fujitsu point 510 tablet memory is 72pin i got 2 32mb memory upgrades with 8mb on board when i put in the new memory and turn on computer it will go up 2 64mb (when there is 72 mb loaded) and the it locks up and comp will not go 2 window 98 se so i put in one of my old 16 mb and on of the 32 mb with the 8mb on board gave me 56 but i want to get both 32 mb in to it or at least the get it to the 64mb at least so here are my questions
1) is there a way like a software i can put on system that will let me put more memory in then just the 64mb total so i can use 2 32mb card and 8 onboard 2 get 72mb
if not on 2 next Q
2)is there a way 2 put the 2 32 mb cards in and the 8 on board and when comp get 2 it max just go 2 windows so that i will get at least 64 not 56
if not on 2 next Q
3)is there a 24mb 72pin mermory i can get somewere look i do not think they make on but ask anyway
in the end my comp is running windoows 98se and will reconize 64mb but can not find a way to get 2 64 just 56 more memory is aways best how can i get more please help me

1) No.
2) Sounds like either mobo cant handle it? Or bios is problem. Have you switched sticks I mean the 32's when running just ONE to see if one is bad? If so have you googled to see how much mem that lappy supports?
3) They do make 16mb sticks but no 24's Im affraid. You got 72's in 2mb 4mb 8mb 16mb 32mb (64mb ever made in 72???).R.I.P. TKOP
You will always be in our hearts and thoughts. God bless.

From the FAQ
http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Port...do?srch=FAQ#48
And, there is a BIOS upgrade. How many memory modules can I install in the Point 510?
Two DIMMs (Dual In-Line Memory Modules) can be installed in the Point 510. Only the first 56 megabytes will be recognized by the system, however.

However, there isnt much about the specs or a manual. It looks as if it's a tight squeeze in there to do much more. If you havent upgraded the BIOS you may want to give that a try. But, be warned, changes to the BIOS can go catastrophically wrong if not done properly.
You may have to just go with what you have.
You'll notice from the FAQ I quoted that it typically wont recognize past the 56 mark... yours counts to 64 and then dies so... You may have a tough task in front of you.
Do you have a back up?
Check out their site http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Port...do?msrch=model and look up your machine with it's serial or configuration #'s to try and get more specific solutions.Last edited by GeorgesPC; February 29th, 2004 at 03:23 AM.

Sorry jon but it seems that your stuck with 56 mb. It shouldnt make a difference any way. Most likely some compatibility issues with the sticks of ram (the 8mb one and the 32 mb ones). Might be because you pc doesnt support memory above 64 mb.
Like Xtreeeme said try both the 32mb sticks to see if they work.
Finally you prolly wont notice much difference between 56 and 64.Buy the ticket, take the ride.- Hunter S. Thompson
