Multiboot

I have just got a new hard disk and currently setting it up as my main one.

While I am setting it up I've been running with the old hard disk so I can still work away when I have to.

Is there a way that I can boot from my second hard disk and view it as c: so I can continue to install things without having to rip the PC apart and fiddle with master/slave jumpers?

I would prefer a solution that requires booting from floppy as the old hard disk installation is a bit flaky at the moment and too much playing with it may make it fail alltogether.

Thanks

Install your new drive on Primary Controller with Master jumper.
Install your old drive on Primary with Slave jumper.
You can read yo9ur old drive from the new O/S drive.
Install your CD-ROM on Secondary Controller as master.

or if you have a Burner and CD-ROM, follow your manual for the Burner.

Some partitioning may be in order. Some tips are to be found on this page:

Welcome to TECHIMO!!

What OS is on the old drive and what OS will you be installing on the new drive?

If all you're trying to do is transfer everything over there should be utility supplied with new HDD to image the old drive to the new one.

Beemer. As its taking a while to set up the new disk (dont have the time to install office and all the other bits I need as yet) I'm still booting off the old one. I was looking for a way to boot off either one without changing over the master/slave jumpers

Bill. I've got win 98se on both. I dont want to just mirror the existing one over as the installation is getting a bit bloated (takes longer to boot than normal, crashes every so often, and other problems). Carried out lots of maintenance on it, but its getting past it now (good old windows and its abillity to install and uninstall programs without leaving anything arround).

Might want to try the "first boot" settings in bios. I had win98se and winxp dual boot and changed the settings to hdd0 for win98se and hdd1 for winxp. This worked because the two os were installed without knowing about the other one (I removed the 98 drive when I installed XP).

The win98 install showed up as c: from win98 and d: form xp. Is that what you meant?
