MODEM problems..PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK so im working on a computer for a friend....her modem was doing strange things when it was plugged into the phone if it rang or if someone picked it up the computer would cut on. so i figured try a different modem in a different slot. SO i put in a US robotics 56k and fired it up installed drivers now if i plug the phon into it calls cant come through OR when i try to call out from another phone it wont work the phone just goes nuts what in the world is going on??? im desperate for your help

no option for that this is an old gateway2000 model 400

how come this modem would mess the phone up it wont even allow calls to come through to my house at all.

Now the modem has the line tied up so you can't dial though?
Fingers computer was just keeping the phone off the hook so it was busy, it would do it out of nowhere. Hang up the computer check for dial tone, alls well. No dial tone later.
He had to replace his modem.

yep the modem is good and the drivers should be sound had a spot of trouble finding them for windows 98 maybe i need to hunt for more drivers.

anyone got any other ideas i really need to get this figured out by tomorrow.
