SATA Raptor drive

Ok guys I'm just getting everything together on the new PC I'm building.. (lost the old one due to a bad power supply)

I have a MSI KT6V mobo and I'm trying to set up a SATA Raptor drive (westren digtal's 10k rpm drive) When the computer starts it's boot up.. it can see the HD.. In the BIOS the hard drive shows up... I have it set and second boot device (CD rom is 1st)

When I try to load up XP pro , XP can't find the hard drive.. anybody have any ideas? I've never used a SATA drive before so I'm not sure if there is anything special I need to do..

you need to press f6 when the windows installer tells you to to set up a scsi or raid drive

ok, am I supose to have drivers for this drive? it was an OEM drive all that was shipped to me was a drive and some popcorn in the box...

When I hit F6, windows could not determine the type of drive..

Also note that for new drives that are shipped unformatted...you must create partitions for it...

So, get a disk utility like Fdisk on a startup disk (from somewhere) I like gdisk....and partition the drive.

This will let WinXP offer you the option of do NTFS partition etc...

If you can get Paragon Partition Manager as it offers quick formatting for NTFS and will see the SATA and SCSI drives without need for DOS drivers.
