| Monitor goes Blank
I'm havining the same problem with my monitor going blank. I can press the ESC key a couple of times and the monitor will come back on, but the color is so bad, like the color quality is 4bit and I have to reboot to bring it back to normal. I just built the computer and I have an MSI mother board and a MSI FX5200 video card. I used the drivers that came with the card and tried new drivers from nvida and the problem is still exist. I will be surfing the internet and that is when the it happens. I contacted MSI and they said it's proably windows, so I re-formated the drive and it still does it, I'm now trying a different monitor to see, I'll keep you posted.
Thanks Todd |

one other option could be the video card overheating....a possibility anyway...but yes, if you try the monitor on another machine and it does the same thing its the monitor.
You COULD check the refresh rate and the resolution....perhaps the refresh rate/resolution is too high and the monitor is getting too weak to handle it.....try to lower the refresh rate and resolution perhaps..just to see if it affects anything.

I contacted Mag Innovision and talked to the Tech. he told me to sit the res. 1024x768 and ref. 60-70mhz (19" monitor), I asked him a couple of times if it could be the monitor and he said no... will see. I'm still using the other monitor and seems to be working well.

| Blank Screen.....
I hooked my regular monitor up, after the Mag Innovision tech said it wasn't the monitor. I set it up like he said res. refresh rate and it still did the same, I contacted them at home during business hours and had a tech go through a series of test and it seems that the monitor is fine. I'll might try a new video card...

Every once in awhile, my monitor just goes blank...the green LED turns amber, indication no signal. Usually, Windows is still running and if I was online, I can lift the telephone and hear the modems.
Most times I can hit ctrl+esc. up arrow once, and enter twice and the machine will shut down normally, reboot will bring monitor signal back...and alls well.
This only happens at irregular intervals. It may be a month before it happens again, but it did it twice yesterday.
I don't have a clue what could be causing it. Maybe someone will shed some light to us all with monitor or signal loss problems.

I used to have this problem with a PC-Chips M571 board. I had it both with the onboard vid and with pci vidcards. It had something to do with video snyc. Never had the with my ECS board tho.

I did some more searching and found a site that said to download Directx 8 and gave a web site, but it had the Directx 9. I downloaded it and it seems to be working fine, it hasn't gone blank since, below is the link that I found the Diretx 9. http://www.microsoft.com/directx/hom...ds/default.asp
Thanks Todd |
