NEED help with Tri Montior Setup

Ok, I have an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro doing two monitors sucessfully. I just acquired an old S3 ViRGE PCI card, and the OS (XP) finds it and installs it, but it has an error. It says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" How can I get this up and running? Thanks.

Interesting one there soccerich20...

I will just rattle off whatever enters my brain.

=======

Just look in BIOS first and switch VGA device to AGP instead of PCI in case this has something to do with it.

You may need to play around by putting it into different slots and testing and see if that resolves it...as there could be an IRQ error.

You may want to use Microsoft drivers instead of any other ones...as that will have better compatibility etc.

Get onto the Microsoft website and do some searches on multiple monitor setups...there could be some tips and stuff there (unlikely but possible)

That is it for now

good luck

I figured it out. I needed to tell my BIOS to boot PCI first, since this PCI cant be used as a secondary boot.

Exactly. You're lucky to get that old S3 card to work together with another card at all.
Tech background: In general, old display cards can't disable their VGA compatibility function - and since only one card, the primary, may have that enabled, you'll get a clash if you attempt to make one of those old cards the secondary. On top of that, early S3 PCI VGA chips have a PCI bug that effectively prevents them from getting their resources mapped properly in certain newer systems.
