| System Performance Enhancements Tools
Greetings. I have put together a small list of Performance Enhancement Links with descriptions for my/our clan's HL gaming forum (if interested see gaming post for New Clan Link). This is what I have used myself and posted: http://www.pcpitstop.com/ - To test overall pcperformance. Includes suggestions and tips after test. http://www.madonion.com/ - Download and install 3D Mark 2001 to test video performance. Can compare results online for all categories, graphics cards or cpu performance.
For those with GeForce cards, here is a tweaking utility that unlocks many configuration settings (works on all geforce cards) http://www.geforcetweak.com/
Anyone who has an Nvidia card (may fix some known issues), I recommend downloading and installing there new DetonatorXP drivers (released in December). Download for appropriate OS. http://www.nvidia.com/ . The new DetonatorXP (not just for WinXP) drivers boast a 10-30% increase in system performance. My 3D Mark score increased by almost 250 pts.
If anyone has a TNT2 Riva series http://www.tweak3d.net/tweak/rivatnt/ , http://www.pcgameworld.com/3dfiles/tweaks/rivatuner/ , http://www.blargoc.co.uk/downloads/nvidia.shtml
I know there is a lot of knowledge here concerning this topic- I would like to make the list more comprehensive and thorough. If anyone has added links with a short description, I would greatly appreciate it. I prefer software or reg proggies or tweaks as I would rather not suggest oc'ing. I dont want to be held responsible for anyone burning anything out. LOL.
Thanks and Regards,
Mortis |

speakin' of nvidia
anybody have any idea when they're releasing their newer drivers?
I had terrible luck with their 23.11 drivers, so hoping the next set will be better.. |

27.10 and 27.11 are already out, but they aren't any better
Had problems even running 3DMark2001 with them (WinXP). |

The famous www.geforcefaq.com - tons of solutions to geforce related problems and some optimization info (plus some info that could be dangerous in the wrong hands but there are plenty of warnings for things like OCing and BIOS flashing). |
