Well this is a moot point at the moment as I just mailed my 5.1 speakers, but I'm ordering Z560's (4.1) by the end of the week and I'd like to get this issue resolved. I have an Audigy 1 Gamer sound card, with recent drivers but I can't get the rear speakers to work with DVD's and some games, Counter-Strike is the exception. The player I use is PowerDVD, and it's set with all the right options and so is Windows. I don't want to install the lame Creative bloatware, but I will if I need to.
So right now my Audigy is collecting dust, I need to reformat anyways so that may fix it, but does anyone have suggestions? The SoundStorm on my nForce2 is what I'm stuck with now, and it sounds mushy and unclear but the surround works with everything, including Winamp and Windows.
Seen this problem before? What I may be able to do is install the card and the same driver build in another PC (HP Pavilion with a 300-something Mhz K6-2) as it's also running XP Pro, and see if that works.
