| swapped fans in the psu today with a led fan instead today...
Hi guys. I switched my non-led psu fan from my antec smartpower 300w today with a svc blue led fan and for some reason, the led's aren't working anymore. It worked fine when i "jumped" it with a molex connector (the led fan has bare wires since i snipped them to be modded into the psu) but when i hooked it onto my PSU, the leds don't go on and only the fan spins. Any suggestions?

if it is a dc fan, you may have your positive and negative crossed, in which case the fan will also spin sdrawkcab and push air in the opposite direction indicated by the arrows on the fan body.

Yes, I also agree with Paul... LEDs only burn when the DC voltage is applied correctly. Reversed connections will not turn one on..but does not damage the LED.

So you guys are saying to connect the red with black and the black with red wires now? I'm not sure if that'll work and i'm afraid it might short it out. =/ | |

if its just wires for the leds it wont burn anything up...if an led is connected backwards it wont work, but it wont burn up either
so if its just led wires try them the other way around.

isn't that a variable speed fan in the smartpower supplies?
if so is it getting enough power to run the leds?
it may be that the fan is running at a low voltage.(slower speed) until it gets hot enough in the case for the fan to speed up.

try with a 9volt battery or a low voltage mains adapter set to twelve volts first if you are worried, remember to check the rating on the fan, first. you are looking to see if it is a 12v dc fan, rather than a 120/240 or 110/220 v ac fan, and make sure the old fan is the same rating. | |
