I'm trying to get my usb device to install on my windows but the windows keep popping up messages such as "usb device detected" but then it pops up "device can not be reconized" or "device may not function correctly". i know the device works on my computer before but now it doesn't.... i think there has been some usb drivers still loaded on the computer so windows is refering to those old drivers... does anyone know where to delete files so windows treats the device as new and will attempt to receive new drivers and not use the old ones? or know how to resolve this usb problem..
i've updated all the usb drivers and still doesn't not work...
hope someone can help me, thanks. |

press the windows key and the break key to bring up the windows device manager, you should be able to remove the device from there. run your driver install program before you ever plug any usb device to the computer, you will have less problems, this way.

because umm i'ma conncting the cellphone to my computer and it uses phone as modem through usb... and the driver i have is best installed when windows picks it up as a new hardware and asks u for drivers.... i notice this in my other usb devices.... when u plug in the first time, it asks u for drivers and then the times afterward, itz like they have the drivers already stored and they dont' bother asking u... do u know how to delete the old drivers so the new hardware dialog pops up? |

from the device manager. or you can just check which driver files are used by the device and delete them manually. different windows versions have slightly different device managers, though, and i'm running linux at the moment, so no more detailed help at the minute, sorry. a lot of usb devices have driver install problems, if you plug them up before the driver install program is run, hence my little tip. epson usb printers spring to mind, here. |

control panel, add new hardware wizard may be of help in that case. you may have to look at the side of the control panel window for an option to show all control panel items or use classic control panel, if it doesn't show already (mainly win xp maybe 2000 as well) |
